Vibe-Coded App Not Showing Up on Google? The Technical SEO Fixes for AI-Built Sites

8 min read | Updated September 8, 2026

The site is live, it looks great, you’ve shared it everywhere — and when you search for your own product name, Google shows nothing, or shows a page with the title “Vite + React”. AI-built sites have a specific set of technical SEO problems that come from how the tools generate them, and almost all of them are fixable in a day once you know where to look.

Do this first (10 minutes)

Search site:yourdomain.com on Google. Zero results means you’re not indexed at all — go straight to fixes 1, 2 and 3. Results with wrong titles or blank descriptions means you’re indexed but invisible — fixes 4 and 5. Then add the site to Google Search Console and use URL Inspection to see exactly what Googlebot sees.

The eight problems, in fix order

1
The page is empty until JavaScript runs
Most AI tools default to a client-rendered single-page app: the HTML Google fetches is an empty <div id="root"> and everything appears only after the bundle loads. Google can render JavaScript, but it does so later, less reliably, and sometimes not at all for new, low-authority sites. Fix: move marketing pages to server-side rendering or static generation (Next.js, Astro, SvelteKit, or pre-rendering), or at minimum make sure the title, description and main content are in the initial HTML. Test by viewing the page source — not the inspector — and checking your text is there.
2
Crawlers are blocked
A robots.txt with Disallow: / left over from a template, a noindex meta tag added “for staging”, or a hosting password wall. Fetch yourdomain.com/robots.txt and check the page’s <head> for noindex. This one is embarrassingly common and completely invisible from the browser.
3
No sitemap, and no links into the site
A brand-new domain with nothing linking to it can take weeks to be discovered. Generate a sitemap.xml, submit it in Search Console, and request indexing for your key URLs. Then get at least a few real links: your app store listing, your social profiles, a product directory, a launch post.
4
Every page has the same title (or the template’s)
AI-generated apps ship with one <title> in index.html and never change it per route. Each page needs a unique title (under ~60 characters) and a meta description (under ~160) that describes that page. In client-rendered apps these must be set in a way that lands in the initial HTML, or Google will keep showing the template’s.
5
Open Graph and structured data are missing
No og:title, og:image or og:description means your links unfurl as blank cards on social platforms. Add them, plus basic Organization or SoftwareApplication JSON-LD so Google understands what the site is.
6
Routes that don’t survive a refresh
If /pricing works when you click to it but returns a 404 when opened directly, your host isn’t configured for client-side routing — and Google only ever opens URLs directly. Add the rewrite rule for your host, or better, fix number 1 so the routes are real pages.
7
Core Web Vitals are failing
A 2 MB JavaScript bundle, unoptimised hero images, and layout that jumps as fonts load. Run PageSpeed Insights: you want LCP under 2.5 s, INP under 200 ms and CLS under 0.1. The usual wins are code-splitting, image sizing and compression, and a font-loading strategy. Our Core Web Vitals 2026 technical SEO checklist has the full fix order — including why one bad template can sink every page that uses it.
8
Duplicate versions of the site
The platform’s preview URL (yourapp.lovable.app, yourapp.vercel.app) is still live and indexable alongside your real domain, so Google sees two copies and may pick the wrong one. Set canonical tags to your real domain and, if the host allows it, noindex or redirect the preview URL.

Why AI tools get this wrong

None of this is the tool being bad at SEO. It’s that a chat interface optimises for what you can see — and indexing, metadata and crawl access are invisible from the browser. A vibe-coded site is judged on the screenshot; a ranking site is judged on the HTML a robot receives before any JavaScript runs. Once you know that distinction, the fix list above is just closing the gap.

It’s also worth being realistic about timelines. A technically clean new site typically gets indexed within days of a Search Console submission, but ranking for anything competitive is a months-long content and links job. Technical SEO removes the ceiling; it doesn’t do the climbing. If your product is a subscription app, SEO for subscription apps covers what to publish on the public side.

If the site is more than a marketing page

The same rendering problem that hides you from Google is often the first sign of the wider gap between a working prototype and a product. If you’ve also hit bugs you can’t fix, or you’re not sure the app is secure, the 12-point prototype audit and the vibe coding security checklist are the next two reads. For a Next.js app specifically, our App Router architecture guide explains which pages should be static, which should be server-rendered and which can stay client-side.

FAQ

How long until Google indexes my new site?
With a sitemap submitted and indexing requested in Search Console, a technically clean site is usually indexed within a few days to two weeks. If it’s been longer, one of fixes 1–3 is almost certainly the cause.
Can Google index a React or Vite single-page app?
It can, but rendering is delayed and not guaranteed, and per-page metadata is hard to get right. For anything you want to rank, server-render or pre-render the page so the content is in the HTML.
Do I need to leave Lovable / Bolt / v0 to fix SEO?
Not necessarily — you can fix metadata, robots, sitemap and canonicals in place. Server-side rendering may require a framework change or a move, which is covered in moving a vibe-coded app off the prototype platform.
Will fixing Core Web Vitals make me rank?
On its own, no. Core Web Vitals are a tiebreaker and a user-experience baseline, not a ranking engine. Fix them, then invest in content people actually search for.
